Renowned actor Asrani, aged 84, passed away on October 20, 2025, at approximately 1 PM following a prolonged illness, as confirmed by his nephew, Ashok Asrani. He had been hospitalised for several days due to persistent chest pain. His nephew also stated that Asrani’s last rites have already been performed.

Govardhan Asrani's manager, Babu Bhai, confirmed the news of his demise in a conversation with Bhaskar. He informed that Asrani was admitted to the hospital 4 days ago. He had water in his chest. After 4 days of treatment, he passed away in the hospital.

The family performed the actor's last rites this evening at the crematorium located in Shantinagar, Santacruz.

Just hours before his sudden death, Asrani even posted on Instagram wishing his fans and family Happy Diwali.
