KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — On Monday, the Tennessee Board of Parole declined parole for Tadaryl Shipp who was convicted in connection to a fatal stabbing in 1995.

When he was 17, Shipp was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole plus 25 years on charges that he and his girlfriend, Christa Gail Pike, beat, stabbed and killed Colleen Slemmer, 19. Pike, 18 at the time, is the only woman on death row in Tennessee. Shadolla Peterson was also charged in connection with the crime and received probation after becoming an informant. All four teens worked for the Knoxville Jobs Corps, a jobs training program for troubled adolescents.

The board declined parole "due to the seriousness of the offense," a spokesperson said. Four members reached a final decision on Monday, he said.
