CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - The Canton Police Department confirmed the body found in the woods on July 23 was positively identified as Ryan Godbey, the 26-year-old man who was reported missing the month before.

Godbey was reported missing by family on June 22.

The 26-year-old was last seen on June 19 at Darlin’s Crew, a club in Canton.

Information collected during the investigation led officers to search a remote wooded area in southern Stark County.

That’s where they found human remains on July 23.

DNA testing from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation confirmed the remains belong to Ryan Godbey.

The Canton Police Department shared the confirmation on Oct. 20.
