MADISON, Wis. — A Festival Foods customer made threats about allegedly having a handgun on the isthmus Sunday evening, Madison police said.

Staff at the 810 E. Washington Ave. store called 911 before 7 p.m. as he threw frozen pizzas at employees. When officers arrived, they found the man attempting to leave the store through the parking garage.

Police made contact with the man and attempted to take him into custody but reported having to deploy a 40mm Less Lethal Projectile.

The man was tentatively charged with disorderly conduct, failure to comply with an officer's attempt to take him into custody, resisting arrest, and carrying a concealed knife.

Officers conveyed him to a local hospital for medical clearance before taking him to the Dane County Jail.
