AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Richmond County deputy has been terminated and charged in connection with a criminal investigation, according to officials.
On Monday, around 3:45 p.m., Deputy Diana Santiago, an employee of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office since May 2020, was brought in for questioning.
Officials say the investigation confirmed “various violations of the law.”
Santiago is charged with violation of oath of office, conspiracy to purchase or possess a controlled substance and unlawful street gang activity, the agency says.
