A Danbury man has died after falling from scaffolding at the rectory of a church in Waterbury on Monday morning, police said.

Officers responded to Our Lady of Lebanon Rectory at 1544 Hamilton Ave. to assist the Waterbury Fire Department and EMS with a man who had fallen from scaffolding around 7:16 a.m. on Monday, according to the Waterbury Police Department . Police said the man, identified as 65-year-old Alair Rosa Deoliveira, accidentally fell from an approximate height of 16 feet.

Deoliveira sustained a head wound and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment, where he later died, according to police. Police said his family was notified about the incident. Originally Published: October 20, 2025 at 6:36 PM EDT
