A 65-year-old man who fell 16-feet from scaffolding at a Waterbury church on Monday morning, Oct. 20, has died of his injuries, authorities said.

Waterbury first responders were. called to Our Lady of Lebanon, at 1544 Hamilton Ave., around 7:15 a.m. to reports of a man falling from a height of 16-feet and sustaining severe head damage, police said.

Alair Rosa Deoliveira, of Danbury, was taken to an area hospital for emergency care, but doctors could not save him, Waterbury police said.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigate workplace deaths.

Our Lady of Lebanon had previously cancelled services for Wednesday while crews were working at the building.
