JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. (WAVE) - On any given day, you’re likely to find a steady stream of people at Jeffersontown Area Ministries (JAM).
“We’re seeing anywhere between 175 to 225 families a week come through our doors,” Executive Director Marlon Cummings said. “On Thursdays alone, we’re seeing 100 to 140 families that are coming through our door for assistance.”
The nonprofit supports the community with a number of services, including food assistance.
For people living in Louisville, JAM and the 12 other community ministries serve as a safety net for people in need.
“When the government cuts funding to the lowest income folks, that impacts them greatly,” Cummings said. “They are living, you know, not even paycheck to paycheck. They’re behind.”
