LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A crash involving at least seven vehicles has blocked several lanes of traffic on the Watterson Expressway in east Louisville.

TRIMARC reports the crash happened around 4:21 p.m. on I-264 East near Breckenridge Lane in the St. Matthews area.

In a statement, Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) said it appears the crash started as one collision and then another. The exact cause of the crash is unknown.

A spokesperson said EMS transported at least three people to the hospital with injuries. They are all expected to survive.

The left shoulder and left four lanes are closed, with the closure expected to last at least an hour, according to TRIMARC.

TRIMARC and LMPD's Traffic Unit are assisting Fifth Division offices with clearing the interstate and moving traffic again.
