FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – This week is National Teen Driver Safety Week, encouraging parents to talk with their teens about safe driving habits.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says traffic crashes are a leading cause of death for teens 15 to 18 years old.

Fresno Police recommend parents have conversations with their teens about the dangers of risky driving.

"I just encourage all parents to have the difficult talk with your children regarding driving and to get rid of all the distractions that are out there," McCray said.

Michael McCray says un-safe behaviors include speeding, texting, and driving under the influence.
