CLEVELAND, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The lights of the Cleveland High School football field didn’t shine on a game Monday night, Oct. 20 — they shined on grief.

Hundreds of people from the small Blount County community — classmates, parents, and teammates — stood shoulder to shoulder under the stadium lights, many dressed in pink, praying for 18-year-old Kimber Mills.

Mills remains on life support after she was shot Saturday night, Oct. 18 at a bonfire in Pinson . Her older sister, Ashley Mills, says doctors have told the family she will not recover.

“She wanted to do things that I wanted to that I wasn’t able to, like be a nurse, help people and that’s exactly what she was trying to do that night. Was just help,” Ashley said.
