GADSDEN, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Alabama State Superintendent of Education recently raised concerns about student enrollment dropping within school systems.

There are about a dozen systems in Alabama seeing an increase in student numbers in 2025.

Gadsden City Schools Superintendent Keith Blackwell says this increase is about meeting students where they are and showing them what they can become in life.

“The things that we offer, the things that kids were able to do. We’ve also made a big, big push to use social media as a way to create our own narrative,” said Blackwell.

Gadsden City Schools is one of the twelve school systems in the state to see a student increase this year. Superintendent Blackwell said it starts within the schools.
