MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Neighbors in Mobile’s Marchfield community put up these skeletons, but they aren't your typical Halloween decorations.
The skeletons off Japonica Lane in front of Marchfield hold up hand-lettered signs, reading “No tricks... just safe turns,” “Don’t bury Thigpen Road,” and “Even ghosts need safe passage."
“They’re pretty clever. It just highlights the issue,” said John Smith, a Marchfield HOA member.
For years, drivers used Thigpen Road and Japonica Lane to cut through from Demetropolis to Azalea Road. The route was closed for a traffic study on Oct. 14. The City of Mobile says that Cottage Hill Baptist Church has raised concerns about students and pedestrians crossing the road.
However, those in the neighborhood are now forced to get onto Cottage Hill instead of
