HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Several Hawaii volunteers from the American Red Cross have flown to Alaska.

They’re helping out residents after Typhoon Halong devastated remote villages along the state’s western coast more than a week ago.

The Red Cross says seven of its Hawaii volunteers are there now to help with response efforts. They are trained in sheltering and logistics.

We’re told the village residents impacted by the storm are now being airlifted out and brought to Red Cross shelters in Anchorage. Autoplay
