HOLTVILLE — The Holtville High School community is mourning the loss of a true legend, Mr. Elias D. Huerta, who passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025. A longtime teacher, Mr. Huerta dedicated over 40 years of his life to educating and mentoring students at Holtville High.
Mr. Huerta’s impact on generations of students and colleagues was profound and lasting. The information on his Holtville High School Hall of Fame induction plaque, pictured here, highlights a remarkable career: he developed the high school's Spanish language curriculum, initiated a functional language laboratory, and increased student enrollment by adding bilingual and non-bilingual sections. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in November 2006.
