LAKEWOOD, Ohio — After a nearly four-hour long meeting, the Lakewood Board of Education voted Monday night to repurpose Lincoln Elementary School into an early learning center, a move that will reshape how the district serves its youngest students.

The plan includes before- and after-school programs as well as summer childcare. District officials said the repurposing of Lincoln was chosen as the path that minimizes student impact, while still addressing enrollment shifts in the district.
