PEMBROKE — The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina Department of Energy will now accept applications for the Heating Assistance Program (HAP) from Jan. 5-30, 2026. The department staff was scheduled to begin receiving applications on Nov. 3, but due to the government shutdown the program needed to be pushed back.

LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) provides vital assistance to help eligible households with energy costs during the coldest months of the year. The Department of Energy is committed to ensuring that families in need are able to stay safe and warm this winter.
