A forward who led the Niagara IceDogs in scoring in his second season in the Ontario Hockey League could celebrate his third by being picked in the opening round of the National Hockey League draft.
Ryan Roobroeck, a six-foot-four, 215-pound, left-hand shot from London, Ont., is among nine OHL players on NHL Central Scouting’s list of “players to watch” for October.
Ninety-two OHL players are part of a larger group of 233 draft-eligible players competing in the Canadian Hockey League, the umbrella organization that also covers the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League and the Western Hockey League.
Roobroeck, who was ineligible for this year’s NHL draft because of his September birthday in the 2007 birth year, was assigned an A rating in the October rankings.
