One of the Magic City’s longest-running charity missions is beginning fundraising efforts for a new 98-bed homeless shelter in downtown Birmingham.

About the Jimmie Hale Mission

Founded in 1944 by alcoholic-turned-charity worker Jimmie Hale, the Jimmie Hale Mission is a charity mission dedicated to providing “pathways to recovery from the root causes of homelessness and unhealthy living through [its] proven process of compassion, guidance and accountability grounded in Christian faith.”

Through its programs and facilities, the Jimmie Hale Mission offers safe shelter, meals and other services to the city’s homeless population through three facilities in the Birmingham area: • Shepura Men’s Center | Urban Campus for Men • Jessie’s Place | Center for Women & Children • Royal Pines |
