EAST WINDSOR TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- An investigation is underway after police shot a man while responding to a report of a break-in at an abandoned home on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. on the 300 block of Etra Road in East Windsor Township.

Police say shots were fired when officers encountered the man at the scene.

The man was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in critical condition. No officers were injured.
