As we look at the forecast for our region, we've got some interesting weather patterns developing over the next few days. We are coming off a period of quite breezy conditions, and while those strong winds are starting to back off a bit today, we've been keeping a close eye on them.

For Southern Illinois and surrounding areas, including Carbondale, Paducah, and Harrisburg, we saw wind gusts reaching between 25 to 35 miles per hour this afternoon. As we head into Wednesday, we're expecting those winds to relax considerably, with gusts forecasted to be between 15 to 25 miles per hour.

We're also monitoring elevated fire weather conditions. With the dry air mixing down, we could see relative humidity values dropping into the 25 to 30% range this afternoon and continuing into Wednesday. This
