Drivers heading towards the Delaware beaches along Route 1 should mind their speed, as DELDOT has activated their first speed camera along Coastal Highway.

DelDOT placed the electronic speed enforcement camera along Southbound Route 1 at Minos Conaway Road, just before the Nassau Bridge entering into the Lewes area.

Traffic officials are currently redesigning the entire intersection structure in-and-around the Nassau Bridge, do deal with increased traffic as more communities are being added north of Lewes.

Speed cameras in Delaware work zones were authorized through a 2023 law, which also allows towns to place cameras on select residential roadways, if they meet thresholds for the percentage of drivers exceeding the speed limit.
