NORTH CAROLINA, USA — State senators in North Carolina passed a newly drawn Congressional map in the state capital of Raleigh Tuesday morning, inching closer to giving Republicans an advantage in another Congressional district in the Tar Heel state.

North Carolina is already considered one of the most gerrymandered states in the country by researchers.

“The existing map already has an F. There is nothing lower, I guess a ‘G,’” quipped Samuel Wang, a professor at Princeton University.

Wong, who himself spent time in the Durham area earlier in his career, is the director of the university’s Gerrymandering Project, which analyzes legislative and Congressional maps across all 50 states in the country.
