RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Wake County's explosive growth is not just changing the skyline; it is forcing emergency responders to sound the alarm.

With nearly 70 people moving to Wake County each day, Wake Emergency Services said calls for help are skyrocketing.

"We currently have all the resources that we do need on the street, but we do know that there is a continued growth here inside Wake County," said Curtis Fuko, Assistant Chief at Wake EMS.

In addition to the population boom, city data shows more than half the population is inching closer to 55 years or older. Fuko said this combination means there are going to be more accidents and more calls for emergency service.
