TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The city of Tucson is considering declaring a housing and homelessness emergency that would fast-track shelter development by changing zoning requirements.
Ward 1 Councilmember Lane Santa-Cruz is proposing the emergency declaration as the city works to address a housing and public-health crisis.
According to the city’s housing needs assessment, only 29% of people requesting housing are currently getting the help they need.
