An ancient burial ground near a new railway line in Cambridgeshire has been given heritage protection. The Bronze Age cemetery at Money Hill has been designated as a scheduled monument by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport after advice from Historic England.

An East West Railway Company (EWR Co) spokesperson said the organisation has been working alongside Historic England to explore and understand the site. It aims to ensure the area is protected while the new railway is built.

Six additional earthen burial mounds known as barrows were discovered during archaeological surveys commissioned by EWR Co and conducted by Wessex Archaeology and Cotswold Archaeology. The discoveries brought the total count of barrows at the Bronze Age cemetery from five to 11.
