FALL CITY, Wash. — One year after a shooting left five family members dead in a quiet Fall City neighborhood, the accused teenage shooter remains in juvenile detention as courts continue to decide whether he will be tried as a juvenile or an adult.
The Oct. 21, 2024, incident claimed the lives of Mark and Sarah Humiston and three of their children: Katheryn, 7, Joshua, 9, and Benjamin, 13. Their 11-year-old daughter survived by escaping through a window.
The 15-year-old accused made the initial 911 call, telling dispatchers his brother "just shot my whole family and committed suicide too." But investigators say he staged the scene to blame his 13-year-old brother Benjamin, and evidence led to the teen's arrest on five counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
