GLOBE, AZ (AZFamily) — The city of Globe has until Friday to submit damage assessments to the federal government as officials work to secure aid for reconstruction following devastating floods this month and last month .
City officials are racing to assess every damaged building and broken pipe to meet the $13 million damage threshold required for federal assistance, which could cover up to 90% of repair costs.
“Small cities don’t have the money like the big cities do, and you have to spend the money in order to get reimbursed. So this could break a city that doesn’t have funding available to spend,” said Globe Mayor Al Gameros.
