HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) - The estate of a man who died in 2023 while in custody at the Vanderburgh County Jail has filed a federal lawsuit alleging that jail officials and medical contractors put him at risk by not providing medical care to him prior to his death.
According to a complaint, 61-year-old Bobby Norman of Boonville died from hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease after spending 13 days in the Vanderburgh County Jail in 2023. Representatives of Norman's estate claim that he advised authorities he required medication to keep his blood pressure under control.
The lawsuit also says that Norman experienced nausea and vomiting and the inability to keep food or drink down beginning on October 23, 2023. Jail and medical staff were reportedly called to Norman's cell on Octo
