CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Mecklenburg County-area Republicans planned a press conference to mark 60 days since Iryna Zarutska was killed on a Charlotte light rail, and to call for action.

Members of the 12th District Republican Party and Mecklenburg County Republican Party planned their remarks for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

The event will also serve as a remembrance of Jayce Edwards, a 4-year-old who was shot and killed at the end of September.

Agenda items for the press conference included calling for increased support of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, revising prosecutorial policies and revisiting criminal justice reforms.
