MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A Collierville man was sent behind bars after he led Memphis Safe Task Force agents and Memphis Police officers on a chase.

According to an arrest document, around 4 p.m. on October 21, 19-year-old Gabriel Byars was spotted by law enforcement riding a motorcycle traveling over 100 mph and weaving in and out of traffic along Interstate 40 near Sycamore View Road.

Officers initiated a traffic stop, but the Byars refused to stop and fled at an extremely high rate of speed, weaving through heavy rush hour traffic, says document.

Officers discontinued the pursuit but observed Byars take the Appling Road exit, returned to I-40 and then turned off onto the Whitten Road exit where Byars turned into the parking lot of a shopping center in the 2200 block of Whitten.
