CLEVELAND — Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb and Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne have written to several members of Congress and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy asking for help to close Burke Lakefront Airport.

In a letter to Duffy, U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno, U.S. Sen. Jon Husted, and U.S. Rep. Shontel Brown, Bibb and Ronayne asked for "partnership and support to begin the formal process — working with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and regional stakeholders — of decommissioning Burke Lakefront Airport (BKL) and repurposing this uniquely situated, approximately 450-acre waterfront site for public access and job-creating development."
