ATLANTA — There's an active investigation underway off of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on Wednesday evening.
Atlanta Police said they were called near 2 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd. after receiving a call about shots fired in the area. 11Alive's Cody Alcorn learned at the scene that this unfolding situation may be tied to a person firing a weapon at an officer. 11Alive has reached out to APD for more information.
One woman, who lives nearby, said she was in her kitchen when she heard a "pop."
"I saw a young guy running down the street and I saw the police chasing after them with the guns drawn," she said. "I had kids outside and I told everybody to get in the house. I said, 'somebody running through here with a gun.'"
