COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A mother and her partner were sentenced to spend over five decades in prison for the 2023 fentanyl death of a toddler.

The incident took place in the early morning hours of Dec. 4, 2023, when a 2-year-old was rushed to Northside Hospital unresponsive and cold to the touch. Hours after arriving, the child was later pronounced dead.

The toddler's mother, 22-year-old Jocelyn Romero, who was also pregnant at the time, told the detective that she was playing in the bed with her son, who started waving his hand in front of his mouth as if he had eaten something hot.
