PASCO, Wash. – Pasco City Councilmember Peter Harpster has announced his resignation, effective October 26, 2025.

Harpster is stepping down after purchasing a home outside city limits, which makes him ineligible to serve on the Council, the city said in a release .

"Ever since I was a young child growing up in Pasco, I wanted to be on City Council," Harpster said. "While this decision is bittersweet, I look forward to continuing to serve Pasco in other ways."

Mayor David Milne praised Harpster's dedication to the community.

"Peter’s passion for Pasco and his deep roots in the community were evident in every conversation and decision he made," Milne said. "We thank him for his service and wish him and his family the very best."
