GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Literacy Council of Grand Island serves as a first stop for immigrants beginning their journey toward U.S. citizenship, offering English language instruction through dedicated volunteers despite facing significant resource challenges.

The organization’s classrooms are packed with students from around the world seeking to improve their English language skills.

“We have a lot of students here from literally all over the world. So we offer classes to learn English and to help people improve their language skills, their English language skills. So we have a real need for teachers and tutors,” said Yolanda Nuncio, the interim executive director.
