Homeowners with private pools are being urged to grant council inspectors access to their properties after new data from the State’s building regulator revealed that property access was the leading cause of overdue pool safety inspections.
Building and Energy’s report on safety barrier inspections in the 2024-25 financial year found four metropolitan councils — Wanneroo, East Fremantle, Rockingham and South Perth — were responsible for half of overdue pool inspections in the area.
Coming in at third for highest percentage of overdue pools was South Perth — behind the City of Wanneroo and Town of East Fremantle — with 7.4 per cent overdue pool inspections in the 2024-25 period.
South Perth ranked fourth for the highest number of overdue pools.
