NORTH BALTIMORE, Ohio — When Terry Wymer blew his whistle, players, coaches and fans all knew the game was in good hands.

The longtime NCAA referee and North Baltimore native died this week at the age of 66, leaving behind a legacy built on integrity, professionalism and kindness.

Rick LaLonde, who has worked the scorer’s table for CBS Sports for more than 40 years, said Wymer brought something special to every game he officiated.

“You always knew it was going to be a great game,” LaLonde said. “He always had control. He was just the epitome of professionalism out on the floor.”

Wymer’s life was rooted in sports. A graduate of North Baltimore High School, he was inducted into the school’s athletic hall of fame. He went on to the University of Findlay, where he played football on the
