News Today Live Updates, 23 October: The Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday met Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) to assess preparations for the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, which is likely to begin in phases from early November, starting with the states going to polls in 2026 and a few others, it is learnt.

Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi continued to remain in the ‘very poor’ category on October 23, three days after the national capital witnessed Diwali celebrations. The average Delhi AQI (air quality index) observed at 5.30 am on Thursday stood at 325 according to aqi.in, with most areas in the red zone.
