VIRGINIA, Minn. (Northern News Now) - For the first time ever, an International Curling Championship is being held in Minnesota.
This comes after Eveleth native Phill Drobnick attended the Pan Continental Curling Championships last year in Alberta, Canada.
They were still looking for a home for 2025, and he quickly pushed for his hometown, equipped with two great facilities in Curl Mesabi and the Iron Trail Motors Event Center.
“To see it all come together and to see the teams just enjoying themselves on the Iron Range is just a pretty cool thing,” said Drobnick. “For Eveleth, being my hometown and to be able to welcome curlers from across the world here, has just been an awesome week.”
Along with the curling teams, 730 volunteers stepped up to help the event run smoothly.
