HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The mother of a Hampton teen is sharing her family's story after she sais her son got hit by a car as riding his bike to school last month.
Hampton Police confirmed the incident happened on Monday, Sept. 8 near West Queen Street and Buckingham Drive.
Stefani Fedorchenko said that’s the morning she let her 16-year-old son ride his bike to school for the first time. However, she said it wasn’t too long into his ride when she got a phone call she never expected to get.
"It was a lady on the other end of the phone saying that my son had been in an accident," Fedorchenko said. "He was hit by a car. She told my husband where he was, and we ran out the door."
She said when she got there, her son was lying on the ground covered in blood.
"[The car] hit his leg, his bike.
