LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Nevada Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo called on Congress to end the ongoing federal government shutdown and wrote a letter to Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen urging her to join bipartisan efforts to reopen the government.
In the letter to Rosen, Lombardo expressed his concern about the ongoing shutdown and its growing impact on Nevada families, businesses, and communities. He noted that if the shutdown extends beyond Oct. 31, which is just over a week away, federal funding would not be able to cover SNAP benefits for November, causing 495,000 Nevadans to lose their benefits for the month.
