COLUMBUS, Ind. – Thrive Alliance is offering an information session for anyone interested in learning how to become a Dementia Friend and what they can do to make their community more dementia-friendly.
Dementia Champion, Jane Ferril of Thrive Alliance, will lead two Dementia Friends programs on Thursday, November 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 3 p.m. at The Sanctuary Church, 3939 Central Ave., in Columbus.
One in nine people over 65 years of age has dementia, and about one-half of people over 85 have some form of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. In response to the growing need, Thrive Alliance is leading the effort to create dementia friendly communities across South-Central Indiana.
There is no charge for the Dementia Friends information sessions, but space is limited.
