Eight juveniles have been arrested after wild footage posted to social media showed police being chased by an allegedly stolen 4WD through suburban streets in northern Western Australia.

Police were called to the intersection of Weaber Plain Road and Barringtonia Avenue at 2am in the East Kimberly town of Kununurra after receiving numerous reports of burglaries and cars driving recklessly through the streets.

Emergency services activated their sirens and commenced a pursuit, yet the drivers of the stolen cars repeatedly failed to stop and even began chasing and ramming police vehicles.

Authorities said the daring chase lasted for three hours and that police were forced to abandon the pursuit due to the dangers posed to officers and members of the public.
