NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Fire-Rescue is investigating an early morning house fire in the 600 block of Rockingham Street Thursday .

The fire happened shortly after 1 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from a two-story home. Once inside, crews founded a fire in the kitchen and quickly brought it under control. The fire was marked under control at 1:29 a.m.

One resident suffered a minor injury but did not require transport. The Red Cross was not needed to assist, officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
