Labour’s flagship ‘one in, one out’ immigration policy is in turmoil after it emerged a deportee has returned to the UK from France just 29 days later.
The Iranian man, who has not been named, was sent to France on 19 September under the treaty signed with President Macron this summer. But he managed to come back to the UK via a small boat for a second time on 18 October.
The revelation has piled fresh pressure on the Home Office with Secretary of State Shabana Mahmood admitting the department is not yet “fit for purpose”. New Feature
