Storm Benjamin, dubbed by Meteo France, is poised to unleash heavy rain and winds exceeding 70mph across the UK this week, according to weather experts.
The Met Office has issued three yellow weather alerts for Thursday, warning of potential disruption, flooding, power cuts and damage to buildings in several regions.
A yellow rain warning, affecting much of southern England, the East Midlands, parts of Wales and Yorkshire, will remain in effect until 9pm.
Residents within these areas have been cautioned by the weather service to brace for heavy downpours from Wednesday evening, with up to 50mm expected in some places by early Thursday.
Despite the predicted wet and windy conditions, the storm has not yet been officially named by the Met Office.
