(WFRV) - With the federal government shutdown ongoing, the Oneida Nation says its FoodShare benefits will be delayed for November, encouraging members to stock up on food.
Due to uncertainty over how long the shutdown will last, tribal leaders urge members who rely on FoodShare to use their October benefits to purchase essential items and to check local food pantries for additional assistance.
Officials also recommend reviewing the process of switching from FoodShare to the Food Distribution Program. To qualify for the Food Distribution Program, recipients must first decline FoodShare and then apply separately.
The current government shutdown has reached 23 days, making it the second-longest in U.S. history.
