CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - While a late-season drought led to some trees turning brown, an area forester says there is still time for some fall colors.
According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, fall colors will continue to debut through October.
“Never fear, other trees will still transform into their traditional fall color splendor,” Jennifer Behnken, community forester, said in a news release. “Sumacs lend their fiery shades on the field edges and roadside, as do the scarlet tones of blackgum and sassafras. Red maples set urban areas ablaze in cherry hues in the parks.”
She also said to look out for sugar maples, dogwood trees, tulip poplars, mulberry trees and elm trees.
