The City of Edmonton is closing in on bringing cell service to the underground stations and track sections of the LRT.

In January of this year, council approved a deal with Telus to design and install a cellular network in all seven underground stations and the tunnels connecting them.

Crews have spent the past year developing a design and early construction for the system, with homes that service will be fully established by the end of next year.

Until then, City wi-fi on stations will have to suffice for riders.
